The Organizational Science Summer Institute
The Organizational Science Summer Institute (OSSI) is an inclusion-based program initiative seeking to diversify the field of organizational science through relationships and professional development of advanced undergraduates aspiring for a doctoral degree in organizational science or a related field of study. OSSI specifically targets historically underrepresented undergraduate students to participate in a research-driven institute for a week during the summer.
Dr. Shawn Long, an OS Faculty member was showcased in an article published in the Winter 2010 publication of Exchange Magazine for UNC Charlotte entitled “Developing the Next Generation of Scholars: Diversifying the Field of Organizational Science” which highlights the OSSI’s unique and innovative approach to encourage traditionally underrepresented undergraduates to pursue graduate studies in organizational science related disciplines.
According to this article in insidehighered.com, it is imperative that insitutes develop and maintain pipeline opportunities for underrepresented students. Of the top schools producing minority PhD’s in the country, the OSSI is proud to announce that we’ve recently admitted five students from three of the top ten schools listed!
Attending student participants receive full scholarship.
