OS Interviewing & Resume Writing Workshop for the Applied Setting

Workshop description: This will be tailored for students looking to enter the applied setting – for internships and for full-time employment.  Heather and Claire have offered this workshop several times to the I/O Master’s students and would like to give the Ph.D. students the opportunity to benefit from their experience as well.  They will focus on general best practices and also share their experiences being interviewed and being responsible for selecting students for various roles at their organizations.  Their lessons learned will help you be more successful when you seek employment. This is an interactive workshop – so plan to bring copies of your resume and be ready to practice your interviewing skills with your classmates.

 

 

 

Heather Gordon, Ph.D. is an accomplished alum of the Organizational Science Program at UNC Charlotte. She currently works with Duke Energy as an executive development program manager. Her expertise include: innovative leadership development and strategy consultant with experience and expertise aligning employee, leadership, and customer strategy to organizational and HR practices across energy, healthcare, and financial industries. She has a successful track record of designing & delivering high-impact talent management solutions and strategy. Also, she has demonstrated the ability to manage complex, international projects & work collaboratively to drive organizational change.

 

Claire White, M.A. serves as Director of Talent Management at TIAA, a Fortune 100 financial services company primarily serving non-profit organizations.  She has worked at TIAA for 4 years and her work has focused primarily on performance management, competency modeling, career development, and change management.  Previously, she held talent management and HR generalist roles at Duke Energy, the United States’ largest electric utility.  She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at UNC Chapel Hill and her master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at UNC Charlotte.  She holds the Secretary role in the North Carolina Industrial Organizational Psychologists (NCIOP) organization and also serves on the Advisory Board for the UNC Charlotte Industrial/Organizational Psychology Master’s Program.
